Honouring a Legend: Richard Norton (1950–2025)

MARTIAL ARTIST & TRAINER, ACTION FILM STAR, FIGHTER CHOREOGRAPHER, STUNTMAN & TRAINER.

Richard Norton was more than a martial artist… he was a global icon of integrity, discipline, and mastery. With over six decades of experience, Richard earned a 10th Degree Red Belt and Soke title in Zen Do Kai Karate, a 6th Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a 6th Degree in Ukidokan Kickboxing, an 8th Degree in Chun Kuk Do Karate (personally awarded by Chuck Norris), and a 7th Degree Red Belt in Tactical Mixed Martial Arts, which he co-founded. He was also widely respected for his expertise in traditional Okinawan weaponry and his career as a bodyguard, actor, stuntman, and fight choreographer.

Over the years, Richard has trained extensively with many Martial Arts legends, including the Machado Bros, Chuck Norris, Bob Jones, Tino Ceberano, Benny Urquidez, Tadashi Yamashita, Fumio Demura, Pete ‘Sugarfoot’ Cunningham and Bill ‘Superfoot’ Wallace to name a few.

Richard’s influence extended beyond the screen and the dojo… he helped countless martial artists around the world deepen their craft, adopt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and integrate real-world combatives into their teaching.

Today, Team Norton BJJ proudly continues Richard’s legacy under the guidance of those he personally mentored for decades. Team Norton is committed to preserving his high standards and visionary approach.
